How to apply
The process for applying for a mortgage with us is fairly straightforward and should take around 45 days from your full Italian mortgage application submission to mortgage completion. We manage the entire process on the phone or online so you won't need to be present at any time other than for the final signature.
Here's a step-by-step guide to the process and what you need to do.
- Complete an Italian mortgage application form. Contact Us today to get your mortgage application form.
- Complete and return the form to us by email or fax. Our contact information will be on your pre-qualification form. Please note our pre-qualification form is not legally binding.
- Once you have been pre-qualified (we try our hardest to complete this in 48 hours), you will need to submit a full application including all the documents listed on the mortgage checklist.
- Barclays Italy will contact you to confirm they have received your application and will let you know if they need anything else.
- Once your application has been assessed, we'll issue you a first official approval subject to the property valuation and the Notary report.
- A valuation will be scheduled for the property you're buying (for internal use only), and once we have this, we will contact you immediately.
- You will need to find a notary and send us his contact details. We will commission a notary report and perform a credit risk assessment prior to your mortgage completion.
- On mortgage completion, funds will be released so you can start enjoying your new home in Italy.
